Earlier in the week I communicated with Mike Latham at CollectorKnives.net about the GEC #53 in the burnt stag. I provided my preferences (I like the stag dark and rough) and just got the knife in the mail today and I am in a word "delighted"! I just want to thank Mike publicly for his great customer service! I love the scales on the one he selected to send me! Of course the rest of the F & F on the knife is great, too! Thank you Mike! Thank you!

Without further adieu here are couple of closeup macro shots of it:

Now them are some purty pictures of a purty knife.
Congrats.

Thanks for sharing.

I have the Muskrat version of that same knife- but the stag on mine doesn't look anywhere near as nice as yours :jealous: Lucky you. I should have bought mine from Mike!

I love the #53 pattern in stag, though. That's what I've been carrying since I got it. I like that it doesn't try to crack your thumbnail off every time you use it. It's a good, solid pattern that has a nice heft to it. Congrats!

No, no sowbelly.

I think I will send the folks over at GEC an email petitioning that their next pattern be a sowbelly in the 3 1/2" to 3 7/8" range. If they make it I will buy it. ;)

Sign me up for that, too! Sowbellies are !

Their next release will be a 3 backspring "whittler". But it will be on the #53 frame, so I don't know if that counts as a new pattern or not.

For their next all new frame, a Sowbelly would be nice- but to be honest, I'll buy whatever they make. I'd really like to see how they would handle a lobster. The recent lobster thread has me drooling.

Great looking handles Tex! Heard something in the wind that there's a new pre-Christmas pattern coming out, completely new pattern but not the whittler. A two blader, really has my curiosity up.

GEC are likely to be busy: I'm LOBBYING them to make a Slimline Trapper/Utility Knife as their next pattern! How'd you fancy THAT in some of their Burnt stag,Amber Bone or Grizzly Bone?? I would:D
