Can someone who owns both a 55 Houndtooth and a 56 Dogleg tell me what the difference is in the pattern? Both are 3 1/2" serpentines but I can't see the difference in pictures.
I own two 55's but no 56's (not yet at least) :D .

56 has cam tang, 55 has half stops. Also no 2 blade 55s yet, you could get a 56 with 1-3 blades. Otherwise the same, and the 57 is the same frame with the main blade pivoting off the other end.

Thanks for the reply. Side by side, you can really see that the handle pattern is the same.

It's odd but the Barehead 56s look a lot bigger than the double bolstered 55s I have .

The pull on the 56 is much milder than the 55 and I prefer the absence of half-stops. The 56 also comes with EZ-Open.

Then there's the 57.....basically the same but reversed!

It's interesting that GEC gave the same pattern two different pattern numbers. (55 & 56)
The 15 pattern is both the TC Barlow and Boy's Knife.
The 68 pattern is the White Owl and Buckaroo.
The 73 is the Scout and Farmer.
The 25 is the Little Jack and Barlow.

The 68 is also the Pony Jack!

Because one is a cam tang and the other has half-stops. They did the same thing years ago with the #53 (cam tang) and the #54 (half-stops) equal end pattern.
