GEC 56 "walk" question

I recently picked up a 56 single blade and love the knife. The one weird thing is that the blade pull from closed is inconsistent and not like any other knife I have. It is probably a 3 starting out for the first 30 degrees, but then drops to about a 2 for what I would call a mushy half stop (next 120 degrees). Finally, it abruptly turns to a 4+ to snap open. Being my first GEC is this a normal action for the walk of the knife? It almost seems like the blade tang missed the rounding step in the finishing process. Curious about others experiences.

The 56 is unique in its action compared to other GEC's, in my experience. With that said, I think my 56 functions the same as you have described.

Cam tangs can have variable pulls. If that cam isn't perfectly circular, then it will be different. Even an inconsistency in the finishing could lead to smoother action and lighter felt pull on part of it. I kinda prefer knives like that, like the 74s - 5-6 pull closed to half stop, then 7-8 from half stop to open.

My 56 (natural canvas, 2018) is a bit inconsistent. I'd say the tension is consistent, but it has a few "bumps" that I feel. Nowhere near as bad as when I got it, but it's still there. It's smoothing out though. I expect it'll get better over time. It's nothing like the perfect pull and tension on a SAK.

I have 3 models of the 56 knife. Two from the first run in 2011, a 2 blade Jack and an EZ Open single blade Pruner. The third knife is a Pheasant Feather acrylic from the latest run. All I can say is all three have smooth opening WALK and loud snap TALK. There's no mushy half stop on these knives as they are cam tang and supposed to be opened in one. If you stop it half way then you might think you're getting a weak half stop but it isn't. Perhaps the OP is not experienced with knives that don't have a half-stop? In my view, half stops are a tolerated nuisance...:D;)

Thanks everyone! It sounds like that is how just how this pattern is, and I can live with that. The pull variation is at least logical in sequence. For some reason (clearly mistakenly) I was thinking that the pull would be closer to an SAK in regard to smoothness and consistency.

I gotta say that this pattern is one of my favorites. It just melts into your hand in almost every grip.
