Apart from different handle materials, and the slightly serpentine shape of the #66 vs the equal end shape of the #68, are there any other significant differences between these two knives that I'm unaware of, or can't tell from photos? Because otherwise they look extremely similar. It seems like even the blades are the same.

If anyone both, some comparison shots would be appreciated as well.

Thanks!

100% anecdotal, but while at the GEC factory with one of each knife in front of me, I couldn't tell which was which at a glance, nor upon first examination, to the degree that I had to look at the pattern numbers on the tangs to make sure of the distinction-- to my eyes, they're that close.

(If I recall correctly, the Calf Roper was a Northfield with slanted bolsters, making it challenging to more immediately recognize its serpentine swerves by visuals alone.)

I don't have a Buckaroo but I could compare a 66 Calf Roper and a 68 White Owl if that will do you any good at all? I would like to pick up a Buckaroo one of these days though as I like some of the handle materials they offer and the 68 frame is great. I would be curious to see if the Buckaroo has a light pull like the White Owls do or if it's a little more firm like my 66 Calf Ropers and Serp Jack have.

I don't have the Buckaroo either, but here is mine with a 68 Pony Jack, and 15 Boy's knives.

Now I have absolutely no ideas which one I want. Two blades, three blades, jack pattern or cattle pattern. Oh, the humanity!

Have had the #66 Calf Roper several weeks and very much enjoy carrying it. Also have the #68 Pony Jack...... love carrying that one also. Without a scale, I believe the 66 to be slightly heavier.....and thicker too (which makes sense as it has 3 blades). Both carry incredibly well in pocket and feel great in hand. There are no errors in choice between the two. Pull on the Calf Roper is a bit more stout. Profiles differ so little that it's a wash.
