GEC #66 Teamster Jack HJ 6 : Easy opener or not?

This knife has a clip main blade and an awl secondary. Looking at the few photos I have found, it looks like the nail nick of the main blade is partly or mostly obscured by the awl blade when both blades are folded. Looks like an attractive knife, shapely serpentine pattern, 3 1/2" long. But I lean heavily toward knives with easily accessible nail nicks, or (even better) those that can be pinched open with 2 fingers. I probably deploy a knife at least every 15 minutes when in my workshop, and easily tire of one that is the least finicky about being opened. I have several with thumb studs and Spydie holes, but just prefer the traditional slip joints.

So, does it like to be opened or not? Also, any observations on pull strength, general usability, carrying comfort, etc would be appreciated. Is it a user knife and do you like it?

As always, thanks for any advice. The Dude.

I like the Teamsters Jack a lot. There is no need for any modification of the knife to access the pull of the main blade. I have a fair amount of peripheral neuropathy and have some degree of difficulty with many two blade knives. The punch sits very low on this knive so it does not interfere with opening the main blade. I don't have any trouble opening the knife at all.

I agree with Bob as opening easy. I had issues with a smashed left thumb that took all of a year to heal and therefore would modify certain knives with an EO notch but the #66 doesn't need it.

do my eyes deceive me, is the pattern an equals cigar? or is there a slight curve there? thanks!

It is a serpentine handle pattern, and very easy to open IMO.
Looks can be deceiving, MrKnife!!
;)

The only 66 I have is a Mink Skinner, but it's very easy to open. Also, like the Calf Roper, I don't believe the Teamster has a half stop on the main. Am I right on that? Might be a consideration as well...

Much Obliged Charlie and Bob, guess Ill be sticking with these 54s for a bit!

I picked up a sea glass 66 the other day. Such a nice size pattern. I ended up showing it to my mom who thought the covers were pretty. I no longer have a 66. The HJ version is nice

To easy open notch the 66 HJ would be a shame. I find the 66 a easy knife to open. Quite a fantastic knife in every way.

Thanks to all, great photos (thanks Biscuit), and good clear info. And,just what I was hoping to hear. I ordered one in red jigged bone. Will post again when it arrives.
As always, the Dude appreciates all the helpful info. Thx.
