Saw the new batch of GEC #71 Bullnose knives at KSF, and finally had to jump on one. I've always liked the looks of a #71, and this one will work really well for my afternoon apple cutting knife (along with a green micarta GEC #92 single blade). I was amazed they had some of the red linen micarta one's left, so I couldn't resist. Yes, those spots on the blade are the beginning of a patina. I couldn't resist cutting up an apple as soon as I received it at work yesterday. This will be my first all steel GEC.

Bill, I like your black linen, I have one en route.

This tortoise arrived the other day, just had time to snap some pictures...

Thanks Paul! I'm not usually an acrylic fan but those tortoise shell 71's are niiiiiiiiiiice!

Neat tortoise! Didn't even know that GEC made the 71's in tortoise. Also, love the patina on the black micarta!

Picked up a black linen micarta the other day. Was supposed to be here this afternoon. Sadly, it didn't make it. Maybe tomorrow.

I agree on the tortoise shell...normally not a fan but it does look really nice on that knife!

Bill, I'm with you as not a big acrylic fan...not that I dislike them it's just that I usually choose different covers. I'm pleased that it's actually not slick and has a good gripiness (that's a word right) feel to it:thumbup:

Thanks Ernie, I have the Natural, Olive Drab and Maroon linens from the first SFO run with the 01 steel so just had to add this to my original Orange...can't wait for the Black linen to arrive:)

The #71's are such great work knives...they fill the hand so well:thumbup:

The black linen is great! I got mine in the mail Monday. I started making a sheath for it last night. I'll post a pic when I finish 😀

I secured these two. The difference between the Red Linen and Natural Canvas in the way of look and feel is quite a contrast. Enjoying them both.
