GEC #92 Eureka Jack Question

I only had one for a few days, but it was pretty tight. 7-8. 10 being unable to open with nail nick.

On my Northfield 92 I'd say the Main blade is a 5-6 and the coping a 3-4.

Individual knives will vary one to the other, not all will be the same. The spring tension just has some variances in individual pieces.

The ones I've handled had a lighter than normal pull at least when comparing among other GEC patterns. I would say very similar to my White Owl at around 5-6 on main and 4-5 on coping.

The Tidioutes I have are right at a 5. I think this perceived ease has much to do with the greater leverage available with a Tidioute crescent nick placed farther forward on the blade, versus a Northfield long pull closer to the pivot. The coping is at a 5-6 and should be the same on both models.

Man...... I just saw one at the gun show the other week and the pull was perfect for its size, probably about a 5 or 6. Loved the knife and wanted to take it home, but the guy was obviously sick or something cause he wanted $180:eek:. He then said he would take $20 off the price :barf:. I let him keep it :(.

Wow. That must have been the rare unicorn handled version!

I have a Tidioute (in buffalo horn) and I agree, it's not hard to open. I did read on an earlier thread a few folks mentioning that the coping blade can partially obscure the nick on the main blade. Mine doesn't have that problem, and it has the spear blade. If you're looking at the sheepsfoot, I imagine you would be even less likely to have any problem with opening.

No problem accessing the long-pull on my Northfield. This 92 is one of my favorites of the dozen traditionals i have. It's a great blade combo and has a nice feel in hand.

Well I went ahead and ordered one. Normally use Knives Ships Free, but they didn't have the Ebony version so I went with Collector Knives. This pattern has been haunting me lately so I decided to follow through on it.

Haha, me too. I just snagged the Autumn Gold Eureka Jack from Collector Knives last night. It seems like a great combination of blades, and the handle shape is unique.

That's the one I have, in AG... Gorgeous knife and love the jigging.

Just sent my Tidioute off to Australia but the main was about a 5/6 and the coping tighter maybe a 7.

Just received my Ebony Eureka Jack today - beautiful.

I would rate the pull on the main blade around a low 6. Pull on the secondary is nice 5. Both snap securely in place when open.

Tang edges are sharp, but I am sloooowwwwwly resolving that issue.

Glad I bought this one, and the timing of it's arrival is perfect - started my new job today.
