I really like my #92, but I would sorta like a slightly more... robust wharncliffe and have been looking at the new Talons.

I know the Talon is a somewhat larger knife, but is it "sturdier"? Is the blade thicker?

In my opinion there is no such thing as a robust GEC wharnie, they all have needle tips. About the only thing more robust about the #47 is the handle. I have a #47, #72 & a #92 wharnies and they are all about identical. When I see this blade on a GEC I think finesse.

My "beefiest" wharncliffe blade is on my #74 saddle rancher. Steel seems slightly thicker.

You anticipated my next question. Sadly it looks like the #74 frame no longer is available with wharncliffe blades.

If we can't get thicker steel, can we get a shorter blade with more edge to spine height? That should be a bit less delicate.
