Just purchased a #25 (253109eo) easy open. Awesome knife!!!!! I really want one is yellow, or smooth white/antique bone, mainly because i want the smoothness in my pocket. Odd but thats just.
Anyhow, my question is regarding thickness, its a single blade sheepsfoot, perfect lenght but a tad fat for what I want. Always used to carry a barlow, replaced it a few years back with a case tiny trapper and got spoiled by the tiny thin thing, figured a single blade barlow wouldnt be too bad, which it isnt, but its still not 100% what I want. so.......Are the smooth bones, or the the yellow handles, the acrylics, etc any thinner????

and of course the pics or it didnt happen pic, sorry for crappy cell phone quality

It seems its burnt stag. Stag is usually thicker than other materials. Acrylics are quite thin. Some of the smooth frontier bones are quite thin especially on middle (some how thicker middle) you could always ask about seller how thick handles are in bone. Micarta and acryclics and woods are usually pretty much even thickness with alot less variation than stag or frontier bone.

I got 2 wharnie #25's and both are stag so they're pretty much like yours. I got plenty other GEC's though. Thinnest material I have in GEC handles is the acrylic.

Thanks for the reply, I'll keep my eyes open to find another, in teh mean time this one will get carried, a lot i bet. Love the quality, no doubt there will be more GEC's in my future

I love the smoothness and size of the single blade 25's too. I don't have any acrylic one's, but here's a comparison shot of my single blade stag next to my single blade sheeps foot in zebra wood. BTW, I've also got a 26 wharnie w/ a small coping blade in stag, and it's slimmer than my single stag 25 too. It's also nice and smooth : )

Great comparison pics Jim. Most of the knives I've seen from GEC in burnt stag will be thicker than wood or acrylic handled knives. Something to keep in mind for future purchases.

I've got two 25's with smooth buffalo horn scales and they are about the same thickness as the wood scales... If you're looking for another alternative.

The bone 25s I have are reasonably slim, bear in mind that all GEC knives are heavier gauge than most of their rivals. This adds to weight in the pocket.

Comparison pics are awesome, THANKS!!!!! mine spent the weekend in my pocket, really like it, I'm hoping to find one in Yellow, or the Anitque white bone, for future use, have a feeling it will replace the stag in my pocket now. First GEC, sure wont be my last. Thanks guys, just another reason to like this forum!!!!
