I just got this GEC easy-open barlow in the mail this week to replace a wharncliff barlow I lost a month or so ago. I'm really liking the dyed bone and acorn shield on this one too! I don't own many traditional slip-joints: most of my knives are modern folders. But I really love the size of these little barlows, perfect for office carry, and people (even non-knife people) don't seem offended by them, which is always a plus in a "professional" environment!

certainly a pretty knife.

intrigued by the sheepsfoot main blade. I know that is common in europe (england?) I havent seen much of those styles here in the states (i just noticed your from Canada, but close enough)

gotta let us know how the sheepsfoot main blade works out for you day to day

That blade sits pretty far out of the handle. I didn't think you'd even need a nail nick. A true easy open...just pinch it and pull!

Nice shot! Any sheepfoot blade usually works nice in EDC tasks. The shield is nice. I like the etching on the blade :)

Kind regards
Andi

Great knife, stormshadow! I have one of those with Dark Zebra Wood scales. It makes a great little utility knife and I really like the 440C steel.

I've found it works really well. The tip is very thin, so it cuts paper up nicely, which is honestly what I use it for 90% of the time in the office (that and cutting string and tape). I've cut up a few apples with it as well, and works fine for that task. The blade is 440c, which is nice too. Overall, the sheepsfoot blade works really well in a knife this size, and for most tasks you would use a knife this size for.

Nice knife. I really like the color of the bone and the acorn shield they use on the Great Eastern branded knives is becoming one of my favorites.

The ones they made for Bulldog don't have any nicks and also sport a nice big swedge.

Very nice knife, although I'm not sure I'd call it a Barlow.

I have a similar one coming this week; hopefully tomorrow.

Technically, GEC calls this knife "EO Jack"; I have the same knife with the spear blade and elk scales (pictures on another thread), and I'm very pleased with it and I'd sure have liked a straight blade version as well.
Mine doesn't sit that high, but I do make little use of the nick and alot of pinching :)
M guess is that this knife will gain more and more of your pocket time...

Nice knife.
I know you only have a 3'' grip on this knife, but it makes for an extremely pocketable friend. It's will do a ton of work too, especially with that blade.
It's a perfect office knife and I would trust it to do a whole lot more. I have roughed one up and it really is an awesome knife for everything it has done.
