I just ordered the new Barlow with a spear point and the basket weave jigging. I've never seen a jigging pattern like it-it looks pretty cool.

The River Blue is the first knife out in the BasketWeave jig.

Wow. That is a seriously cool jigging pattern. I need to pick up one of those easy-opens!

EDIT: Mike, I just ordered one of those from you. You're a bad man.

I was looking at their easy-opener wharnecliff, but I like this better! Too much GEC ... I just got their Beavertail/Beaver Pond bone.

True to their name! Look how easily they opened your wallet! Let us know what you think when you get it moon.

I like the look of the jigging but wonder how sharp the points are. I like them a little more worn than it looks.

There's no such thing as too much GEC! I complain a lot about their springs, but I keep coming back for more. The Easy-open feature on these should negate my one complaint about this amazing pattern. These should be almost perfect watch-pocket knives. Right up there in contention with the Case Peanut and Swayback Jack.

Mike has no problem getting me to open my wallet. He's the slipjoint pusher man. Him and the guy from Sooner State. It's going to be a sad day for my personal finances when the new Schatt & Morgans start shipping.
I'm not too worried about the points on the jigging being too sharp. I like crisp jigging. If the points are too sharp, they can be softened with high-grit sandpaper. The color on GECs goes DEEP, so you can do a little sanding without worrying about it too much.

Man that is some sweet jigging. My po boy wallet can't take much more of this.:grumpy::D

That does look good. Not sure I like the blue color, though. They have something similar in maybe a brown or dark red/burgundy?

Moon,

I'd hate for you to suffer with those terribly strong springs any longer. I'll take them off your hands so that you can concentrate on collecting knives with backsprings of mortal construction.

So thoughtful of you! You truly are a giver. :D

Neither a giver nor a taker be,
but stick to your own knives. You see,
moonwilson needs to build his strength,
so let him go to any length
and buy more G.E.C.!

I like that pattern a lot, but I'm not wild about the scale colors. Is it gonna come in any others, or should I suck it up and buy the burnt stag?

It's brand new, so there may well be more colors coming. There's also the Tidioute ones with a sheepsfoot blade that have some red bones and some wood handles.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, since I like the the pen blade much more than the sheepsfoot.

There may be more colors coming, but I wouldn't bet on it happening in the near future. They have a tendency to make a few Tidioute, then make a few Northfield, then go on to something else. May take months to get back to a pattern, if they decided it was worth re-visiting at all.

I don't think they even got the full run of 50 serialized completed on some of these EO variants; and the only distributors that got any unserialized models were those that had them specifically ordered prior to production.

They have learned that if they over-produce a pattern it has quickly diminishing returns. So just seems smarter to go to the next pattern.

Actually, I like the Yellow bone myself, don't fancy blue knives at all.The jigging is very good though.

The Easy Opener looks like a useful and worthwhile pattern, nice to see a current manufacturer bringing them to market.

I like that Spearpoint blade, anybody got a closed picture of one? I think they could be flatter than the Sheepfoot which sticks out quite a bit or?

Esav, nice bit of urban poetry there!

That's the kind of thing I was trying to figure out. Thanks a lot, Mike. Are the springs on the EZ-Open line as stout as the rest of the GEC knives?
