GEC bolsters' material

Hi,

A friend of mine is engraving the bolster of my GEC Boy's knife.
He asked me what is the material used to make the bolster .

Any idea ?

I think a few are steel, but most are nickel silver.

I agree, I think it is nickle silver unless an all steel model.

You can try this - a small neo magnet will stick quite well if the bolster is steel, and only a small bit if NS...due to the blade & back spring's distant but still present influence.

If it has brass liners, the bolster will be NS -soft. If it has steel liners it will be steel bolster, hard

Agree with the 3 amigos....

Side note: sure wish they did more all steel builds

GEC has done some knives with NS liners and NS bolsters, I think two Forum knives 11 and 13 plus a few other knives but no 15s with this arrangement. The all steel construction patterns have immensely impressive back springs, not even a hint of gaps
