Narrowed my next purchase down to two of the Boy's- a bare-end rust red single blade (clip) or a capped single blade (spear) in ebony. I really like both and if the urge is too powerful I may buy both, but I would like to grab just one. Any input from be appreciated!!

You can see mine in front. I love it!! The ebony is great and durable.

I currently own three #15s, and I can only recommend that you buy both. Anything less and you'll be left wondering about the other one...

This guy is a trouble maker........ but very right. I started with the ebony single spear, then moved to the rust red jig, and now im about to buy my third..... with no end in sight...

How do you like the ebony? I haven't had any experience with it- how is it aestheticly? Are there any slight hues other than black in it?

I would go with the bare end clip first.

You should have both. (I got the ebony first.)
My ebony (above) has some brown streaking, unlike my Powderhorn, which is almost black throughout both sides. Wood and bone is always a gamble, if you can't inspect several knives of the same make before buying and select what you like best. (And, for that matter, I've never understood internet retailers who show only one side of a knife, especially stag) I guess you pays you money and you takes you chances.

The ebony is nice, it seems really durable and while mine is pretty dark, I have seen some that have lots of brown banding. It's hard to photograph ebony and show how beautiful it is. I don't think you will be dissapointed, it's simplisticly beautiful.

I just picked up this lil beauty.... A spear bladed smooth bone. I Guess they were a house cleaning short run for GEC.

Just to add fuel to the fire, a new run of sheepfoot 15's are coming and will be EO's and bareheads I believe. Have an ebony ordered to join my bareheaded clip point. I prefer bareheads and will anxiously await the release of a barehead spearpoint.

So after all of the wonderful [and non-conflicting ;)] advice, I slept on it last night and decided to grab the ebony. It just seems like a very classic knife- but the bare-end will be in that cart soon enough! GEC really hit a home run with this pattern!

Late to the party but of those two I'd pick the red jigged bone barehead clip point. But that's purely because of my personal preferences of a clip over a spear and bone over wood.

I do really love bone scales, but I decided to try out a wood handle for once, and ebony seemed like a great starting point.
