Hello GEC historians and experts!

Can you please help me out with information on these GEC "Bronco Charlie" knives?

Apparently a one-time very early run as a tribute to the Pony Express (but none of that may be true). There are cool stamps on the tubes and the knives are really nice.

I searched the forum but couldn't find much info.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Rick

Beauties both.
I can only say I have a couple of those #23s ..from 06 07 and 12...
The early ones were not serial stamped like now but the 2012 is..
O6 07 Pioneer is 1 of 250 made..it has jigged green bone .large clip and spey.
06 yellow smooth bone has single clip.
The 2012 Cocobolo has a lge clip and a massive pen blade.
I suggest yours are of the Pioneer model 23s..maybe limited to 250 knives or less in those covers..
I'd be hanging on to them.
Be nice to see the blades.
Cheers.

Got me wondering if the different scale materials are all part of the 250 Pioneers...or 250 of each...?

Sorry, Rick - my ribbing isn't very helpful.

That said, I did find this info in the production totals for GEC's 2007 runs. It shows two Bronco Charlie runs in Horsecut Walnut and Buffalo Horn (76 and 96 pieces respectively). It doesn't show them as any sort of SFO so they may have just been something fun, kind of like the recent Ben Hogans.

I found the same but was wondering if anyone knew anything specific about that run. They are great knives and I feel lucky to have them. Thank you.
