As a relative newbie to traditionals, what are some other companies(not custom/semi-custom makers) that are worth a look?

Böker Germany, carbon Traditionals, nice Copperhead, Whittler, Stockman,Congress and Pen.

Plus this Lockback isn't too poor either...

Boker. Moore maker. There's still a bunch of Queens, canal street and schatt and morgans on the market. Red rider. Bear and son. Older out of production but available. Bulldog. Fighting roosters.

For what purpose? Collecting or Using?

For collecting the older American and German brands are a fairly good bet. But probably nothing German made in the last 10 years unless you are certain you can discern the country of origin for sure.

For using, Maserin, lionSteel and Viper have some standard traditionals and some euro looking traditionals; and some of the Japanese makers have very nice models (Moki, Fallkniven).

USA Schrades 881 885uh or 8ot
If you like a 4” Stockman
34ot 897uh for a medium stockman. EBay is the best place to look

I also like Böker Tree Brand knifeswapper knifeswapper has a beautiful rosewood trapper model on his website. They make awesome stockmans Barlow and trappers great quality I’ve had like 5 of them all great

There’s a Polish company out there called Enigma Knives. They remind me of a semi custom slipjoint maker, but not nearly as expensive. They sell for roughly the same price as some GEC’s but use more modern blade steels and materials, M390/US2000 and titanium. Their stock seems to flow pretty quickly, and from everything I’ve read, they make a good knife.

Thanks folks. I should have mentioned LionSteel, as I have an Otnat, and a Shuffler that I bought from Mike at CK. I'll look into some of the other companies y'all have mentioned. Thanks.

Maybe just spend some time with Case.
There's a ton of selection, they're easily available and not too bad on the wallet.
Plus, they offer stainless and carbon, if one or the other is your preference or you're experimenting.

For someone exploring traditionals, there's probably no better company out there.

If you are getting into older 1960's Case or earlier, just be sure to do your homework before buying. There are more counterfeits out there than people realize.

worth a look

traditional slipjoints:

- Queen made Black Box Winchester knives from the 1980s and early 90s... you can still get them for under $100 on ebay
- Olbertz (Solingen Germany) made Bulldog Brand First Gen Knives from the 1980s and early 90s... you still can get some for under $100 (but lately, the barlows in particular have risen sharply in price)

modern slipjoints:

- JE Made Lanny's Clip from 2016 - 2019

It’s been terribly hard to get any black box Winchesters for under $100 on eBay lately, the snipers have been bidding them up. I recently acquired one and it’s very nice, but I’m a fan of queen made knives in general.
I can say that the workman series of Winchesters that bluegrass cutlery ordered are well made, definitely Queen manufactured, but have delrin scales and stainless blades, those can still be had for a bargain if you know where to look.
