this gec mdl. 25 has great bone. i just call these small ones barlows. although this classification is'nt totally correct gec has a bunch of these 3 in. knives which i lump into barlows. i think gec calls them jacks. whatever the bone is quite attractive.

Very nice. I like the small Clip that GEC does on those. They also have it on certain Wharncliffe Barlows, too.

At least that one doesn't have a bolster at the other end.

Hi,

I've got a #25 Barlow too. Great little knife that is a real workhorse for it's size. I like the bone on yours also. I kind of wish I'd gotten mine with bone instead of the red Buffalo horn.

Nice - I had a blue bone one like that but passed it on - I think a barlow should have a clip point - if only for getting stuff out from under your fingernails :D

I think as the #25 goes GEC calls the end capped ones Jacks, while the bare ended knives are Barlows.

Hrmm after reviewing knives I don't know how GEC differentiates their #25 Jacks and Barlows. Some "barlows" are end capped, and some have a short bolster on the pivot end as well.

Dennis -- The bolster on that knife is a bit rounded but I'd call it a Barlow for sure. Barlows were/are made with Clip blades, Spear Blades, Razor blades, Spey blades, Sheepsfoot blades, and for all I know, other blades too.

That is a very nice looking knife and the bone jigging is well executed.

I believe they call the 1-blade knives barlows, and the 2-bladers are called jacks.
Mike Latham would know. HELLO KNIFESWAPPER . . .

Don't get me to lying.... Me nor Great Eastern Cutlery have gotten any awards for naming knives appropriately.

But.... per the 25, GEC seems to name anything with an end cap a Jack and most others a Barlow.
