I found this:There is a whole thread on Harness Jacks somewhere, it pops up now and again. I thinkwaynorth or
Campbellclanman posted it, so it is sure to contain some good information. Charlie has done a number of them, and one of our forum knives was a Harness Jack
Edit - I could find THIS one, but it's not the thread I was thinking of, which I THINK is called 'All in on Harness Jacks'. I guess the 'Search' software is banjaxed![]()
Found it.I think these are the ones your thinking of, plus a pic of it in some old bridles and such.

I took these with the sunset behind me, the light had changed quite a bit in a few minutes between taking the first pic to the last. For the better I think

Hi Folk, Whew, what a year so far!, there is much talk about those beautiful TC Barlows, this year they have dominated Traditionals - and for good reason! Charlie is a wonderful ambassador for Traditional knives, The Miller and that lovely old New York Knife pictured below are from Charlie -...www.bladeforums.com
It reminded me of this knife that DavidMisplaced Hillbilly has. He had a better picture somewhere, but I couldn’t find it:

Thanks everyone I never thought to search for HJ,I don't have many myself, but it's a useful pattern, and very collectible I think
The first is one of Charlie's SFOs, the second is also Charlie's, and produced by GEC as one of our forum knives, the third is a vintage Robeson

Thanks Duncan, do you remember giving me that lovely Robeson in The Fat Cat in Sheffield? The #35 was also a gift from you too, you generous sausage!Lovely Knives Jack!
Well done DuncanJohnnythefox - there are two extensive Threads, Charlie has one that was the original - and Charlie is THE father and historian of the Harness Jack, I mistakenly started a Harness Jack thread - completely in a senior moment -
My thread.. I should maintain this a lot better and bring it forward now and then with different photographs....

Harness Jacks - Special Orders
I have had a flood of questions about the knives that will follow here. Now that I have none to sell, I thought it would be a fair and politic time to tell this tale. It is a bit about my journey, and a bit about the present state of cutlery making in America, but mostly a lot about my love of...www.bladeforums.com
Another Thread By Charlie on the outstanding and most beautiful 85 HJ..
Another Son of Bladeforums #85 - or - HJ5!!
Been wanting to do a Teardrop HJ again, this time in Carbon steel! W. Carman patented a punch for Napanoch Cutlery in 1908. Over 100 years later, his design lives again, thanks to a little piggyback ride on the BF knife, and some serious begging and pleading with an Engineer/designer! (Email...www.bladeforums.com
OOps- everyone was faster than me
Even more were lost with the last BF software changes I thinkThe death of Photobucket was unfortunately the death of a lot of pictures in our Threads :-(
Looking forward to that my friendI am going to paste these links on my Signature, sorry for my absence of late folks, will be coming back in a bit stronger very soon! and for the lack of maintenance on my Thread, I could learn HUGE lessons here from our Jack Black
I never thought of it either! Thanks everyone I never thought to search for HJ,
As Jack and I know HJ is also a sock maker in the UK![]()
I like an awlI use the awl on my SAK soldiers a lot, this one looks even tougher and more useful.
Thanks I have awls, but these look like they are on another level. As mentioned several GECs will have a knife and an awl amongst other tools. I think Camp/Scout style knives will be your best bet for this set of tools.
I rarely use the awl of any of my knives that have it, mainly Victorinox models. I use the corcksrew more than the awl![]()
I can see why.The Washington punch knife, along with the 35 BF knife, are two of my favorites:
