Hello guys and gals. Quick question for you: Does Great Eastern Cutlery ever re-release or do another run on certain models/patterns? As an example GEC made a run of 25 #73 linerlock TIDIOUTE Scouts with Grizzly Bone and lanyard hole back in 2011. I have been searching high and low for this knife or any version of this knife as long as it is a linerlock TIDIOUTE (not Northfield) with a lanyard hole but have found nothing for a very long time. (for extreme sentimental reasons this is the end all be all knife for me). What are the chances that GEC will make another run of a previous knife they already made. Has that ever happened? Am I out of luck?

It's possible, but not probable. They're a pretty new company, so there's not much precedent go on, but when they "reintroduce" a knife, it's usually not just another run of the same, but some sort of variant. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Supply and demand is obviously a factor.

Your best bet is to keep scouring the internet. Check eBay every day or so. Make sure you check every dealer listed on GEC's website. Post a Want To Buy in the Exchange forum. You're a Gold Member, so you're allowed a signature; make one that details what you're looking for, and it's possible someone might have one to sell to you or knows where you can find one (this has worked for me on a couple occasions).

Awesome thank you! I did the signature suggestion. I will keep searching as this truly is the one! Thank you for taking the time for replying. You folks amaze me with your generosity.

I don't think they have done runs of the exact same knives before. They change something on it to make each run unique. It may be a very small change, but it will at least be slightly different. I know this has been discussed here before, but it's been a while and I don't remember enough about the thread to search for it.

That does seem to be the case. So far! (They're still rather new at this.)

I do.

There is a new run of 73's coming up in August, so you won't have long to wait. They'll be making two blade, single blade, and liner lock models. ;)

Tidioutes should be available in ebony or jigged bone covers on the #73 liner locks. Play it safe and pre-order one from one of the fine dealers supporting this forum. That way you won't miss out.

Thanks for all your help guys! I have contacted a dealer that supports this site and will get in line with a pre-order.

YEEEEESSSSS!!!! The #73 single blade is the perfect pocket knife in my opinion and becoming rather hard to find. GEC is like a traffic light, right when you can't wait any longer.... they give the green light. They make it really hard to buy from another manufacturer.

I almost lost my cherrios when I saw this list! I'm gonna be BROKE come August! I want an ebony single blade 73 but would like to see them do a #73 in something dressy like appaloosa bone.

Thanks for posting!

Glad you were able to get an order in for one. I misread your first post last night and thought you were looking specifically for the Grizzly Bone covers. Somehow I missed this part.

Thanks for the link, Sarah. The one that I was thinking of had a post with two different knives and the poster asked if anybody could tell what the difference was between them (besides the serial number). The difference was very minor, like the size of the blade etch or something similar to that.

It will be interesting to see how long they can (or want to) keep changing them while still offering popular cover materials such as ebony.

All these upcoming knives are limited runs of only 25 knives in each handle material, all ready sold out at the Factory. Don't wait too long.

1) Yeah, I realized the one I'd linked to was... limited. But, I remembered (having started) the one asking about repeated knives, which is half the (search) battle.

2) Now that you mention it, I remember that other post and the interesting blade etch comparison as well. It's here somewhere, but you're right about its having non-unique words with which to search!
