Ok GEC. The knife in the tube was cute for your first 5-years but now it's time to do away with the "tube gimmick" and start packaging your knives in boxes. The tubes just don't store worth a darn. So, away with the tubes and bring on the boxes.

I solved the problem by throwing away the tubes and using the knives. :)

I would think that putting the tubes in a box should solve the problem?

Sorry, Ed, but I really like the tubes and their old-timey oiled butcher paper wrappers. I find them fun and unique. A variety of tall, short, fat and thin tubes with various labels even make for a novel display peripheral (though I'm obviously easily amused ). I think the GEC tubes will be part of the allure to future collectors, too, in the same way that fragile old knife boxes appeal to antique knife collectors today, but the tubes are far more robust than your usual flimsy and easily crushed rectangular box.

If you have as many GEC knives as Dennis, you'll need like a custom wine rack, lol And there's an idea for ya'

I kinda like the tube myself it just looks so much cooler than a plain old box imo . Helle also packages there knives in a tube.

Tubes, boxes - it's all good.... just relax and enjoy it. :D

HA!!!:) Now that's a good play on words -- "tubes in a box".

Actually, I've been thinking of just throwing them all in the round file.

I love the tubes!
the sit (8 I have) on a shelf one next to the other in purchasing order, look way better than the case, queen and schlieper boxed next to

Maxx

I like the tubes, something different and store vertical .Part of GEC's I.D.

Boxes are often good-Queen, Schatt, Canal and often not worth a light, flimsy rubbish from CASE, Böker,RR (all companies I like)

Mind you, those tubes could be reminiscent of a pimped-up toilet roll core.......

I also like the tubes.

I just throw them in a Rubbermaid tote with the rest of my knife boxes.

I think the tubes would make a good storage container for other small items too. Washers, nuts, drill bits, small or partially smoked cigars, etc. The possibilities are endless.

Watch out for those half-smoked seegars:D Whole place might catch fire and the knife collection with it:eek: Funky kind of smell too:D

I rope 'em together with elastic bands like sticks of dynamite!

I'm all for keeping the tubes. They're unique, well-labeled so I know what knife is in it, and store in my knife box just fine.

I dig the tubes, the heavy wax paper, and even the smell of cutting oil when popping off the tube lids. Don't change a thing GEC.

tubes have a big advantage for me since they seem to protect from horn bettles. i do admit they are bulky but also i do'nt need rubber bands for loose boxes.--dennis

There now. Evidently, you keep/store your knives in the tube/box. I on the other hand don't keep any of my knives in their tubes/boxes.

I do have to admit that the GEC tubes are attractive. I guess I'll have to relent and just find another tool box to keep them in.
