Am I the only person who is excited about the GEC model 83 Little Lockback? I saw it posted on their website under projects to ponder. That might be a very nice alternative to some of the small Buck knives.

I am looking forward to this knife!

This is the knife I have been waiting all year for GEC to make. Much to my disappointment they will not be making it in 440C because Bill Howard is so miserly with his glorious stainless. Now that the beer scout is being made does that mean we'll see the 83 by the end of July?

I did notice this on the GEC site and saw that it is a new pattern...I think. A well made under 3.5 in lockback will be interesting and look forward to hear more about it. The pictures so far are drool worthy as I do not have a GEC lockback. Hope they can keep the pull on these under 6.

GEC seems to be moving right along on it's builds and would not be surprised to see news of these in July at least, but the rendevous will slow things up abit...or may be introduced then?

The drop point lockback is an amazing combo. Really excited, especially given that GEC seems to have resolved their lockback vertical play issues after the #99s came out.

The lockback issue is the only thing that deterred me from buying a lockback GEC. If it really is so I'm excited then for some micarta on this hopefuly summer release of the 83's.

There was some post on the Lets Talk GEC thread that had them coming in Aug. but they already have the bolsters worked according to a pic I saw on their site. Im at least getting one clip and one dp.

It's the only thing of theirs in the pipeline that interests me at the moment, something original and different. I feel I have a good supply of 15 type knives and have no interest in more of the same, and the Leg Knives are not credible in my book...

This new lockback is going to be very handy indeed. I agree, the lack of a stainless option is a missed opportunity as it really works well on their smaller knives. The Wall St. lockback was very precise and excellently made, let's hope the same high quality is maintained on this new knife, really looking forward to a Drop-point version.

I'm very much looking forward to it. Buck has a few smaller lockbacks and maybe I'm mistaken but there aren't many other options in that size range. I'm waiting to see the 83 move from "projects to ponder" to "what's in production." Any idea what price these may be?

I was not the only person excited about a new small Lockback from GEC. I am looking forward to actual photos as it gets closer to production.

From the drawing it appears the clip point has some recurve to it, which I'm not a fan of. The Tidioute drop point looks better to me than the Northfield; its long pull and swedge just don't work for me, although I'm a fan of the threaded bolster.

I'm looking forward to this run also.Appears to have a lanyard tube form the picture. Can anyone comfirm this?

So I'm gathering it's going to be only offered in 1095 blade steel then? I'd prefer a stainless choice as well.

I have a drop point with green micarta covers reserved. I am really looking forward to these hitting the market.
