This thread is a follow-up to GEC Northfield #36 Steel Sunfish in Black Buffalo Horn ordering info, which was closed as unauthorized advertising.

I fail to see why the original thread was closed. It was not advertising or a for sale ad. It was an attempt to make a group purchase of a factory special order knife. This exact thing happens yearly on the traditional forum without question. There are extensive threads with discussions and polling as to maker, pattern, blades, handle material etc to order the SFO forum knife each year, and a list of forum members who wish to purchase the yearly forum knife is compiled. Here is one of many threads on this subject, this one is the poll where the 2010 knife was chosen -

Except for the fact that the pattern and construction decisions have been made already, what makes this one so different ?
