Well we have a thread for Cocobolo and one for Osage Orange mine as well have one for Stag.
Mine showed up today and it is pretty much what I was hoping for. Very well matched gnarly stag, the pull is about a 6, not bad at all. Blade well centered, very nice fit and finish. I love how GEC matched the color of the stag, this one has some light brown to it that is matched perfectly side to side.
Hope others have ordered stag and I would love to see some pictures.

Good idea! We might need a 73 Bone thread too....why not? It's such a great pattern in any material but individual variances really show in these kinds of dedicated thread.

73 liner-lock from '08 with very moderate pull and thick grooved stag.

Wonderful stag on that one Augie, and very well matched from side to side.

Will, I've got a Cuban with Genuine Stag that has the same groovy character as that 73, great stuff!

Great gnarly looking stag on the 73, liking the gradient from bone white to chestnuts and browns.

Absolutely gorgeous stag, Augie and Will; totally stunning!!:thumbup::thumbup::eek:
The look of the stag on the two knives is VERY different, but both types look spectacular to me. The "infinite variety" of stag handles really appeals to me, even though I still haven't decided on a stag-handled knife for myself! :o But Monday was our 30th wedding anniversary, and I keep assuring my wife that her gift to me will be a special pocket knife in stag, she just doesn't know which one it will be yet!! :D:D

Thank you GT, most kind. It is really deeply grooved and this is the lure and the frustration of stag: it is so massively variable. I've come across some frankly repulsive stag, I'd like to use some choice language now but Mr M will not let it be said here... But when you find the type you like it gives you an Emperor of a knife. Study the pattern (not all patterns suit stag) and scrutinize the dealers' photos, particularly spine shots. I'm not a possessive type and possessions should never get the upper hand, but there are some stag knives that I would never want to part with, my 73 linerlock is one of them

Regards, Will

These 73's are just awesome. Great pics in this thread. Lotta excitement out if this latest run of 73's. I broke in my new micarta 73 today - steel wool, apple cider vinegar, and few passes on the lansky. Now it's ready for duty.

Thanks for the experience-based advice about choosing a stag-handled knife, Will! I appreciate any such advice that those familiar with stag have for a complete stag novice like me!:o:thumbup:
