Love that stag and that blade profile! Think I'll add that one to my list. Thanks for sharing.

This pattern is very nice! Feels good in the hand and the blade is perfect for almost any cutting you might need to do! Earmarking Calves will be done with this one. Thanks!

I love that knife, GEC seem to have a great supply of lovely Stag ( not to argue with Jeff at all, as I have liked what Ive seen )), I would love to have the knowledge of how these company's operate...as in where the supply of Stag like this comes from in such huge quantities etc.
Thanks for showing us that beaut!

Nice!

I just got a Yellow Rose Northfield in the same patter if I am not mistaken on size. I was surprised on how well the blade was ground especially the swedge!

Sorry to hijack with a silly question, but can someone tell me why GEC uses the designations Burnt Stag and Genuine Stag? The Burnt Stag is real stag, isn't it?
Great looking knife Tacblade, I was eyeing those last night.

why GEC uses the designations Burnt Stag and Genuine Stag? The Burnt Stag is real stag, isn't it?
It's just the way they distinguish flame burnt stag from natural (unburnt) stag. Yeah, both are the real thing. The former is just torched a bit for added color.

As they are matching the slabs for the burnt stag; any "premium" pieces come thru they set them aside for genuine. Although I have seen many burnt stag that I like as well as genuine...

Now the waters are muddied a little as they have a "natural" stag which is neither burnt nor genuine.....

I have one genuine stag and nearly all my burnt stag GECs look better to me, but I really like the toasty amber coloration the heat provides.

Mike, is the natural stag a non-premium, non-burnt stag? Not sure what else it could be with that moniker.

I don't know how my phone threw me off so badly Jeff but I responded to you about this in a different thread??? They are all blending together!!

I showed you my 1 of 50 #73 in another thread, but I just noticed this?

Look at the different colors of the STAG, the white part? One is very white and the other is kind of a cloudy clear?

Anyone know why this might be this way? My first thought was, one side is real and the other is imitation?

They are natural differences in the stag. Just because those two scales got matched for hafting doesn't mean they came from the same horn.
The more clear (gray) scale probably has a little more of the center pith still on it, which usually does not have the solid white coloration.

Those are really nice scales and the nuances are what makes stag so interesting.

Fantastic pics, and coincidentally I just placed an order for one of those beauties not 5 minutes ago :)

The single blade GEC #73 is my favorite pattern in their lineup, and since I've never had a proper stag handle it seemed like the right thing to do.

Thanks for the images.
