Hey guys,

I have a 15 in OD Micarta. I was driving around yesterday and it was my companion. At one point while sitting in my car in the post office parking lot, I needed it to open a letter. I then set the knife in the passenger seat and started driving. I was only in the car for maybe 15-20 minutes but the micarta on the side facing up seems slightly bleached. The deep greens are still green but the white thread ends are much more vivid now. Is this pretty standard? I did it again today but with the opposite side and a similar thing happened.

Thanks

Micarta will dry and get lighter. Direct sun light will expedite. New knife? Have you oiled or is it a heavy user? You can rehydrate and darken w/ oil or use.

Relatively new. Very light use thus far. I have been home-bound for the last two weeks due to a kidney stone and subsequent removal. So, the knife has seen minimal use, lots of fondling though. Haha. That's good to know, though. Thank you. I really only have experience with my ESEE LaserStrike in Micarta and that isn't polished so it's seen virtually no color change. I also have a Coyote in OD Micarta that has a fair amount of use but I keep it in a leather slip so I have never really seen the color change.

Here is micarta brand-spanking-new out of the tube placed in direct sunlight.
