I have one of these coming tomorrow (I hope), and I recall seeing a pic a while back where the pen blade had been modded into a coping blade. I'm not having any luck finding a post or pic with that knife ..... any help would be appreciated. I really like the idea of doing that to my knife when it arrives, but would like to look over the final results again before I do.

Heck, post pics and give me your impressions of the Outlaw Jack regardless if the pen has been modded or not! ;) Thanks!

That was Sturzi's knife. Love the work he did. It's been posted in the whatcha totin thread.

I'm honored :)

Here are some pics. If you want more I'll gladly take some close-ups or whatever.
When it was new:

I really want one of these with the Yellow Bone with the rose shield. I haven't held one in my hand in person but from looking at pictures it is one of my favorite GEC patterns. I wish GEC would make one like what sturzi did to his because that just looks perfect and i don't have the knowledge or skill to do a mod like that.

Looks good, great pics too  I really like the look of this Outlaw Jack, been nice to see all the recent pics of it. Personally, I think I'd be quite happy with the pen blade, but the 'conversion' looks good too :)

I been eyeballing that jack also. If it sells out I know I'll be disappointed. Just to many I like and not enough funds

That's the one! :D :D :D

Thanks to all who posted!

Sturzi, that looks great! I like nail nicks both on the mark side, and there's not too many jack knives configured that way. I also like a clip blade main with a sheepsfoot-wharncliffe-coping secondary.

I made the pen blade into a small sheepsfoot(?) on this #25, and it works OK, but the darn thing is so short to begin with that it looks a little odd. Since the pen blade on the Outlaw Jack is a fair amount longer I think it lends itself very well to the mod you made. Nice work and thanks for sharing.

Groove, your pics over the past week got me to thinking about this pattern again. I was kind of on a knife buying hiatus last fall when these came out, but they did pique my interest. I guess I sorta, kinda forgot about them in the meantime. All of a sudden your pics appeared and I decided I needed one!

Thanks again to everyone who responded here, with special thanks to sturzi.

I feel like an enabler.

Oh you are definitely an enabler ..... (and I say thank you)! ;)

Great pic! I almost went with the Yellow Rose myself, but got some additional pics from a dealer on a Burnt Stag, which looked pretty good, so I ended up going with that. But I really dig the Yellow Rose ..... and the Copperhead Jig Bone ..... and the Cocobolo. :D

It certainly is a very nice knife you have there Groove, been enjoying your pics of it :)

Wow I really love this knife!! This is the one I would get for sure and it's on my list of must have GEC patterns. After seeing this Yellow Rose version none of the others compare for me. :)
