Anyone who has a #23 Pioneer 4 1/2" frame model GEC trapper (single or double blade). What is the blade thickness on this model.

I have one in 440C.
It is a complex shape, so I will give you several measurements.
The tang of the drop point blade is 0.110"
Midway down the blade, the spine is 0.97"
Just above the bevel, the blade thickness is ~0.022"

One thing I have previously commented upon is that, because of the thinner edge, this fella cuts like a banshee and will outcut blades made of alloys with better reputations for edge retention. I am much impressed with the blade shapes on the GEC's I have handled. Truly, these are the products of designers who know their stuff about knives.

That puts em at roughly 3/32.

gotta agree my other GEC's cut very well. Just tryin to make up my mind.

Not about the thickness like, but I would say that when I got my first slipjoint #23 ( I have a few and will have more I know) it was like some blinding revelation of something I had been seeking for ever and not known

The right length and shape, the blades are robust but thin enough to slice like an atomic-driven Stihl

Along with something that I can core an apple with, the #23 is more or less my 'go to' knife (swaps about with a few bigger sodbusters and other #23s)

Unless it is too big, I can't imagine how you could be disappointed, especially after you have put an edge on it
