Hi I'm pretty knew to traditional knives, specifically GEC's. I was wondering if anyone could give me a recommendation on a GEC in a large stockman pattern? Thanks!

#81 Abilene Stockman is very stout.

#82 Dixie Stockman is longer, but more slender.

I have a 53 pattern stockman that I like a lot. It's been done in quite a few variations I believe.

It's definitely large!

Technically, the #53 is a cattle knife, not a stockman, but that's just a difference in the frame shape. Here's some comparison shots I took a while back with the #66 Calf Roper, #81, #82, and #53. I ended up letting my #81s go. The #81's sheepsfoot sticks up more which many like better. The #82 and #53 as they have lower sheepsfoot blades which is important to me.

Yessir, cattle knife would be correct!

It was the blade combo that made me think stockman, but no, you are quite right.

Thanks for the comparison shots, btw, I've been thinking of getting an 82 for a while.
