This is a knife that has been speaking to me.

I like bigger slipjoints for carry purposes and I have been wanting something with a wharncliffe blade to try out.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these, and wanted to get some opinions.

I don't think you would be disappointed. Very well made knife. It was a bit large for me personally but I generally prefer a knife a bit smaller than it is. The only other issue I had with the knife was that whatever blade was not in use would stick out from the handle and dig into my hand if I put a firm grip on the knife. But the secondary blade sticking up when closed dosen't seem to bother a lot of people so if that isn't something that would bother you then I think it would be a great knife for you.

Saddle Trapper is one if my faves and a top three in my traditional EDC rotation.

It is a pocketful, and that wharncliffe when closed could potentially turn into a hotspot for extended use.

I got mine in a people friendly Coffee House acrylic, and despite the size, I've never had an adverse comment from non-knife people.

I think you'll like the pattern. It has two super handy blade styles and isn't too big for the pocket, especially if carried upright. I like the Tidioute version in Autumn Gold Jig Bone as the bone has great color and the blades are flat ground instead of the sabre grind used on the Northfields. The NF version is very pretty, though, in bone and stag. :)

I LOVE mine! My wife bought me one in cocobolo for father's day, and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I'm like you, Coonskinner, the knife spoke to me as well. And they're even more beautiful and impressive in person. Their blades are perfect for any task. It's such a solid knife, and really feels like it can be a workhorse if you wanted it to be. My only "gripe" (if you want to call it that) is that it's pretty wide. The overall size and weight are larger than most of my other traditionals, but I don't really mind that, but the width makes it hard for me to find a good ready-made pocket slip for it. Otherwise I have to let it ride solo in my front pocket, and in my climate, sweat would still get to it. Other than my personal gripe, it's an amazing knife.

Here's mine.

I'm in agreement with the above posts, one advantage not yet mentioned by the others is the amazingly thin blade grinds, you get almost a zero edge grind, and it slices very well. I don't like the way the wharncliffe sticks out when you are using the clip, but that is the only flaw for me.

I really like the pattern. I prefer something larger however. Been carrying a #23 or a #42 of late.

Sorry no pics. I have one of the Northfields in stag I'm very happy with it. It carries and slices very well.

They will fit in either the Large PocketSlip or the Main Street PocketSlip. I am liking the Main street better.

The pocket sheaths are nice, but personally, I find I don't like messing with taking the knife out of pocket, out of sleeve, back to sleeve, back to pocket. (No offense intended Derrick as your slips are very nice).

Here's another very simple method of carry that keeps a large folder upright in the pocket and will fit any knife, and it is practically free. This was suggested by a member on another forum - thanks Mike!

OK here it is: just put a couple stitches of thread or use a safety pin to make a small "pouch" in the front of your jeans pocket. Leave enough room so the bottom of the pocket is free so change doesn't get stuck down there. Then, simply slip the knife in your pocket and it will naturally find the 'pouch' in the front and ride upright very nicely. I use safety pins so I can adjust the size of the 'pouch' and just leave them in when they get washed. Works like a charm and keeps your knife from other stuff in your pocket fairly well (or don't put anything else in there with you new knife!). Try it! You'll like it! :)

CS, I love mine.
I have only had it for four days now, but it is a great pocket companion.

Barry is right about it being extremely comfortable while carried upright and the knife fits perfect in my Wrangler's watchpocket.
But, it doesn't bother me while I'm wearing light kaki shorts either.

The frame is very accommodating to the hand while the knife is in use and it proves to be a perfect design for two extremely useful blades.
I give it two thumbs up.

now...that photo sure is deceiving ;) your hand looks HUGE compared to that knife, I remember that blade and she was POINTY and pretty good size too, I may have to reconsider my vows about not getting another knife right away :)
