This is a GEC Tidioute Stockman that just came in. Although GEC calls it a Stockman, it may best be described as a Cattle knife. It is 4 1/8" long and built on GEC's #53 Cigar frame. A nice touch is that the knife's wrapper in the tube had a Cigar Band wrapped around it. This knife was made in 2007 but is new in the tube. The fit and finish is excellent and the blades are quite sharp out of the tube. The jigging on the Chocolate bone scales is nicely done. The Clip blade (3” long) is what GEC calls a Muskrat blade and what others may call a California clip blade. The Sheepfoot blade is 2 1/8” long. For a knife of this size (4 1/8" closed), the Spey blade is a bit short for my liking only being 2" long. I wish GEC had made this blade at least 2 1/4" long. There is plenty of room in the handle for them to have made a longer Spey blade without having it hit/rub against the other blades or liners. The pull on all 3-blades is a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. None of the blades on this knife have half-stops.

This will make a nice working knife when helping out some local ranchers with their cattle/calves during branding time this coming March/April.

Hi Ed, Hows the walk and talk on those? Is the opening smooooth like the older Cases? I'm still waiting for them to com out with a serpentine stock about 3 5/5 to 4 inches.
Nice knife BTW.

Looking good, Ed. I also own one in the Yellow Rose finish. That knife is a real work horse.

Congratulations.

Steve -- The walk and talk on this knife is very nice. The opening for all blades is smooooth and the snap when closing is positive.

I really wanted that one myself; I have the #73 sister to it! How heavy are the springs? My #73 was real heavy, but after a couple of years, are close to it break in they're just right now!

Good looking knife.

Congrats!

Peter -- The pull on all 3-blades is a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. The springs are just right for a knife of this type. No nail-breakers or anything close.

That's a great looking knife, and good to know about the half-stops. Personally I don't care for half-stops, so I'll be on the lookout for this type from GEC.

Say, is there a resource for which GEC models have the half stops?

ed those models are rare now. chocolate bone was'nt done on a lot of knives. you are going to love the way gec 1095 cuts.--dennis

I've got a twin to that one. At the time I was waffling on the Scout model in chocolate bone to accompany it. I waited and lost out. Still a great knife, and one I love to carry.
