Just got this one today and I'm very pleased! F&F is great. Both blades have a pull of 5 or 6, and lay centered when closed and no wobble when open. Steel bolsters and liners. I'm not much of a "reviewer", but I wanted to share some pics with my friends here on the Traditional sub-forum. I really like these newer double blade 3" GEC's. (Some of the earlier ones had a small clip for a secondary blade that were nail-breakers and almost impossible to open). These feel amazingly good in the hand for a 3" knife.

Nice one Keith!

I agree. Those GEC Barlows are little gems.

Great looking bone on that one.

Looks good, thanks for the pics! How can you tell which is the newer model?

The last two digits of the number stamped represent the year of release - 2011 in this case. However, I may have misspoke if I gave the impression that all earlier ones had a hard pull - I think it was only the ones with the small clip secondary, and not the ones with the pen secondary. I just looked at a couple others I have, from 2008, with the small pen and they have a nice 5 - 6 pull on them also. Sorry, no pics of any with the small clip - I sold them so as not to inflict unnecessary punishment on myself. ;)

Nicely dyed bone!
I prefer a pen secondary also. Both blades are perfect for that knife.

Say, what's the thickness of that Barlow? Does it ride well in a change pocket of some jeans, for example?

The bolster end is a hair over 7/16" and it flares out (gradually) to 9/16" on the other end. Rides very comfortably in the watch pocket of my jeans.

Very nice Keith. The length is great as it is. I had a GEC 3" Jack with a Wharncliffe main blade and a secondary small clip blade and it was just fine. Nice bone and nice coloring.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments! IMO it's the bone color and triple threaded bolsters that really "make" this knife.

That looks a lovely little Barlow. I'm always on the look-out for nice Barlows here in the UK but you hardly ever see them, and importing them puts the price up so much what with import taxes and carriage.

You chaps in the US are so lucky.

great little knives but 3 in. is too small for arthritic hands of mine. 3.5 in. does work well in doglegged jack.--dennis
