I received this 735109LECEB Scout yesterday. It was made up of parts left over at GEC in order to clean up their work space. I went to the GEC 2009 Production Tables and the knife with Ebony Covers is not listed. GEC evidently has not updated their 2009 Production Table sheets. So, for now, this knife is off the books.
The pull is pretty stout (8 to 9 on a scale of 1 - 10) which is at my preference limit. Since it's a linerlock, a 7 would have been much better. Fit and finish is as with most all GEC Knives first rate. No gaps, etc.. As with most GEC Ebony, the covers are not jet-black but rather mottled with a good amount of brown. A tad of black "Min-Wax" rubbed in with the edge of my thumb should take care of that problem.
I know some don't especially like Endcaps (I am 50-50) but on this knife, the Endcaps really set it off. I generally like the Swedge that GEC grinds on their Northfield line blades but since this was what you might call a GEC parts knife, I have no problem with the non-swedged Tidioute blade.
I don't have the actual weigh of this knife but with the linerlock and endcaps, this knife is a heavy knife for a single blade Scout. Perhaps even a tad heavier that a non-locking, non-endcap, standard, two-blade Scout. Because of the heavy weight, this knife might not see much pocket time. It's a good candidate for carry on the belt in a belt sheath
