I don't mean versus as in a competition, but more along the lines of size. I currently own a Case Trapper, and it seems like the GEC Toothpick is pretty close to the same size and blade shape. How are the GEC toothpicks as far as EDC knives? Do they carry well, and do they usually come pretty sharp?

samhain73,

Which model SAK, closer to a Tinker, or more like one of the locking blade models?

Here's a side-by-side comparison. The Toothpick has the easiest opening blade of all my GEC knives. Nice snap, but not a nail breaker. The blades on mine were butter knife dull. Fixed that with a diamond stone and my Sharpmaker in a few minutes. I reprofile all my knives, so it wasn't a big deal. The GEC toothpick is a great EDC knife.
• Decent blade length.
• Relatively slim for easy pocket carry.
• Curved shape fits the hand nicely.
• Not as heavy as most GEC knives of equal size.
• Extremely sturdy construction like all GEC knives.

Hope this helps.

I like the scales on that CASE

The Smooth Mediterranean Blue Bone was much lighter and brighter than expected, so I soaked the knife in very hot water(microwave 50 seconds) then coated the scales in Fiebings black leather dye. After wiping off the excess dye, the result is a dark blue-gray. Soaking in hot water seems to open up the pores in the bone so the dye can penetrate.

grab some cardboard, get both shaving sharp.
i'm sure you will find the gec will cut longer than case c.v.
have to give it to case for more attractive bone

Thanks for the information gentleman. It definitely helped seeing the two of them together augustus88, I greatly appreciate it. I think either a GEC Toothpick or one of their single bladed Scouts may find it's way in my pocket sometime soon. I have to admit I've always preferred single blade models, and I've been getting the itch for one lately.
