I apologize if it’s been asked before, but does GEC release what models they are making for the year in advance, or any kind of announcement at shot show/blade? Or do they just do the simple announcement on their website when they start production of a new model? Thanks in advance! I just started collecting some of these the end of last year, and I can’t wait to see what’s to come. It’s kind of nice simplifying things...

Follow the GEC online magazine!! You should get what you need there!

Another newbie here... I recently started reading the online mag. Their Production Schedule page shows only the #62 run that they’re producing right now, which (I’m guessing here) will probably take them another few weeks. There’s no production schedule info for the latter 9-10 months of this year. Is there any way to get any idea of what the remainder of their 2020 schedule may include beyond the #62 run?

Other than a Ouija board your guess is as good as any. They did make a 23 for another group so those should be next.

I honestly didn't know they had a magazine.... I commented (tongue in cheek) in another thread that I was going to cancel my subscription to GEC Monthly.... little did I know...

Personally, I like just about everything about GEC. Great company, great knives, unsurpassed quality... good all around.

GEC keeps their future releases somewhat secretive. Typically, we find out what some of them are by way of dealers/clubs being offered SFO opportunities (which need to be ordered in advance). Otherwise, the anticipation is part of what makes this whole thing fun :) We can speculate all we want but the only person who really knows is Bill Howard. You never know what he is going to throw in the mix.

The only thing we know for sure is that there is a run of 62's happening and likely a run of 23's soon (maybe next). I know of a few dealers/clubs putting #23 SFOs together. Stay tuned here on The Porch and you will be as informed as anyone

Thanks for that insight. This game of watching and waiting is a new one for me.

whatever they do, I just hope they use some attractive acrylics like the dead skunk, st. paddy's day, etc ... so sick of the run of the mill blah tortoise shell and the dark green & brown humminbird types ...

They did Dead Skunk on last year's (or was it 2018's now?) #14 run. But acrylics in general are down. The Coffeehouse was great. The Lava was good, too. Heck, I even kinda want one of the Gold Sparkle 78s. The Hummingbird was strange, but I like acrylic on the 35 frame.

I'm also unsure why they don't do more goldenrod jigged bone and copperhead bone, autumn gold bone, etc.

Yep, love it or hate it, there's nothing "blah" about this. :D :D

Personally, I'm disappointed GEC seems to have stopped using Nifebrite Acrylic. I don't care that it glows in the dark, I just like the way it looks!

I'll be on the lookout for that one in the mail...;)... Seriously, though, that stuff looks great. They used it on another run, was it a run of 56 Doglegs?

A 33 Conductor in the Unicorn Ivory Acrylic would be swell (swell-center pun intended.)

Blah to one is attractive to another :) Especially when it comes to acrylics.

I would really, really love to see another run of the #83. They only produced them once, in 2015, and they were all in small quantities.

Like many here, I, too, wish we could see more of a line up for the year's production from GEC. But then I have to remember that GEC actually gives us more information than a couple similar cutlery houses did back when they were still up and running. But then I also contrast information we get from GEC to Case manufacturering (Case usually lays out the year). Ultimately, I think it's all a part of GEC's charm. I've heard their production referred to as "just in time manufacturing" and I think we've seen this....sheilds are often TBD as is jigged bone. I think this is part of who they are and it's the same reason they can bring us such wonderful products (sometimes on the fly) like boys knives with chains...new swayback patterns with different lines from an existing swayback of the same size...sheep sheilds placed on the lower third of the handle, stabilized smooth white bone when stag runs out. It's all part of what makes GEC so interesting.

waverave waverave , I hear you on the 83s. I wouldllove another run. What I REALLY want is the Slipjoint version of the 83! :):)
