I may be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that there was an issue with GEC’s white acrylic, that’s why they didn’t do it much. Does anyone remember or know anything about this? Or is the alcohol and affecting my memory?

I think I remember there was a problem on the 48 from last year and then they did the unicorn acrylic on the 25 that also had a bunch marked as "S" due to problems. I remember someone posting in one of the threads that it was a manufacturing problem but don't recall the specifics - pretty much no help to you here lol.. where's my beer it's Friday.

Was the problems only during manufacture and the ones that made it out live ok?

Thanks guys.

I wonder how that unicorn ivory is holding up. Sure was attractive out the gate.

Mine resides under glass in my trophy room, but I got her out to inspect it for you folks.

Looks as lovely as the day it was made. Hopefully more Unicorn horn can be sourced at some point...

Running a unicorn farm proved to be more than I bargained for. Darned things are always getting loose....
If I remember my legends correctly, what you needed was a couple of pretty virgins.

Unicorns are compelled to lay their heads in the laps of virgins. This is the classic method of harvesting the horn.

Sounds like this could get expensive! I’ll have to not only turn the upstairs of the barn into a big apartment for them but I’ll also have to hire a security team to protect them! Lol.

With regards to the scale material, I wonder what happened that caused so much of it to have issues.

If I remember the chatter around these when they came out, I believe the material proved difficult to buff.

I believe that was the case with the Unicorn Ivory Acrylic #25's, at least.

I've carried mine a bit. No problems.

You all talking about one of these? View attachment 895853
Not my knife or image.

I’m actually talking about the 48’s but yes the white acrylic.

I’ve heard the white g10 is hard to buff also due to taking the color of the other materials you buffing. In fact, one maker flat or refused to make me a white g10 knife.

I think the Ivory Acrylic that GEC used on the #66 was a little different than the Unicorn stuff. I don't remember reading about any problems with the Ivory Acrylic on the #66's. I didn't even know there were any White Acrylic #48's.

I thought the white acrylic 48s were just a handful from the Rendezvous last year and not regular production?
