the latest gec ebonies have been figured with some caramel color. the scout ebony is solid black. some will like the all black & others prefer a little caramel mixed in.there are several ebonies in world the absolute hardest is the african ebony. the australian snake is also up there with ebony as one of the 10 hardest woods in world. bubinga is african & bocote mexican. although they only half as hard as ebony they are still 60% harder than hickory.

I ended up getting another of those Left Hand Rosewoods. NIIIIICE :)

Thank you for the great picture.

incredible collection of wood GEC, DennisStrickland!
my wallet just groaned :o

That Exec in Ebony is the height of class
If I were to buy an Exec that is the model!

The Slim Trapper in Snake wood is no slouch either

O.M.G!!
Dennis..what a great line up!!!
Man....everytime you and Charlie put a line-up of knives, it just blows us away...awesome!!!

Jigged wood!
I wonder how that feels in hand. Do they have some sort of coating?

Snakewood and ebony are particularly nice. I also like that rosewood scout. It has very nice look.

Sorry Dennis, but seeing your posts only makes me wonder what slipjoint you do not have:D
Beautiful collection, that's for sure

thanks guys for responses but i do'nt really have a lot of knives ,i only collect gec. many members collect case, queen, gec, schrade, & buck. because i concentrate on one brand it gives the idea i have lots of knives. some of these guys have 500 + knives. one fellow wrote in a while back & his collection was approaching 3000.

methinks he doth protest too much...

(...i'm just sayin'...:p)

I love the beaver shield.

I thought that was a salamander. ;) :D

Beautiful Gecks, Dennis, as always. Ebony scales, in particular, have been a longtime favorite of mine; now that's a hardwood. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming #72 Northfield Wharnie in ebony, assuming they do a decent job on the blade profile.

thanks rick i've got a ebony sunfish ordered. you are right about hardwoods ebony survived on 100 year knives just about better than any other material. some of the great current makers did wonderful big bowies in ebony.
