Who makes Great Eastern Cutlery's knives? Do they make their own knives, or are they made by Queen?

How is the fit and finish? How does it compare to Schatt & Morgan?

They make their own knives. The 2 owners use to work for Queen. F&F is a step or 2 below Schatt & Morgan IMO.

Went to their open day during the summer, nice set up they have, really impressed, not an oversized outfit, just right! as knowtracks mentions the two owners used to work at Queen. Bill Howard I believe was their Chief Designer, that's probably why GEC knives have some of the same qualities.

here's more info if not seen already.

Just FYI, I don't think Ken Daniels ever worked for Queen. At one time they would make him some SFO's (Cozy Glenn stamped).

Ken has a large tire business or some such. Ryan (his son) is the true knife salesman; but works for UPS by morning as I recall.

I don't think starting a new operation like this would have been possible without the business sense and experience Bill / Ken brought with them.

As far as I know, they make their own entirely.

There are connexions with other knife firms, allegedly.

The range is continually expanding from month to month and this is very promising.

The ones I have ( 5 knives from 2007 until this month) have ALL been exceptionally well-made both carbon & stainless. Some peerless jigging & scales available for the price. No gaps, blade play or weak springs here on my models unlike Schatt& Morgans I have which cost as much or more.

One legitimate criticism could be that they make rather large knives (though the Barlow & 3.75" Scout are sturdy but not bulky)but this may change as they seem to be an expanding company. They appear to have very good dealers as well.

Check through their range, identify one you like and buy it, I very much doubt if you will be disappointed.
