I've been getting into traditionals quite extensively in the past 6 months as I greatly appreciate the simple pocketable designs as well as the excellent cutting performance. This subforum is probably one of the best sub-forums along with the MTE subforum. Its a great community and I'm glad to have found it.
So far I have 4 traditional knives-- GEC #85, #47, ray smith barlow, and a 60 year old SAK officer.
All of them are crazy sharp and go under regular edc rotation. The #85 was a real gem that I was lucky to catch. The liners and springs have 0 gaps and a really clean satin finish I put on with a scotchbrite. To my surprise the small pen blade is completely flush in all 3 positions! The clip blade is flush in open and closed but a bit raised at the half stop. The #47 has gorgeous stag, but it is slightly uneven. In a right handed grip, its my most comfortable folder, but in a left handed grip (I am left handed) its just okay. I'm searching for the perfect #47 stag and when I do ill replace the one I have. The barlow is really nice and pocketable, but the walk and talk isn't as nice as my GECs. Overall still a great knife. As for the SAK, it is in superb condition for how old it is and how I found it and is probably one of my favorite knives! Anyhow enjoy the pics and I hope to expand my traditionals in the future.
