My understanding is that a blade using the words "Titusville Iron Works" will mean carbon steel... and "Cyclops" on their blade will mean stainless. But, are these the names of firms they actually use for their steel, or just historic names they have chosen to use to fit with their nolstalgic marketing? Thanks for any info you can share :-)

It is not where they get their steel. It is my understanding that they are now housed in the old "Cyclops Steel" building; but they are both just owned names.

Here's a great thread, 'Let's talk GEC' http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1081593-Lets-talk-GEC!?highlight=Let's+talk+GEC started by Rockgolfer

Sometimes I want to talk about a new pattern I spy on Great Eastern's site and dont feel it needs its own thread.

It's a place to put all those niggling little questions, queries, observations, thoughts that come into your head, and basically anything that doesn't really warrant its own thread. It's a useful thread IMO, keeping these things together where information can easily be found by other users, while not cluttering up the board with threads that aren't really going to go anywhere.
