GEEK MODS: RC-4 & RAT Pack RC-3

Stripped & unguarded

Missed the package by a day when I went out of town, but I just picked it up.
Jay does some amazing mods and makes some kick ass kydex rigs!

Orange kydex sheath with adjustable cord rig. Initially I asked for a shoulder rig type of carry because I hate belt carry sheaths, oh and I dont wear a belt either.

The sheaths he made are bright and easy to find. Being that it is a adjustable, I can go from shoulder sling to neck knife by pulling the cord tight. There is a bit of a Bob Dozier thumb ramp to assist in retrieving the knife eliminated the need to yank it out hard which can be a little dangerous at times in a camp.

Removing the choil makes room for people with large hands.

I really like the choilless RC-3! It looks much more ergonomic than the stock one.

That does look better Bear. How does it feel? I'm specifically interested in whether you think it gets a little thin where you shaved off the guard? Also, does the mod make the original RC-3 sheath defunct? You did a really nice job on the mods.

That is fantastic! I never bought another ESEE knife after the 3 because of the small handle with choil. I think I will do the same.

They look 100% better to me !

kgd was kind enough to loan me an ESEE 4 once and although I tried to like the knife I found the handle felt wrong, I bet the mod gives far more room for the hand and lets you choke up more when needed as well.....love it !

Just to let you know yes I am back to making knives and I am making kydex sheaths too, doing that TV interview was neat and I told kathy you said Hi. Also if you need to scales put on your KAT knife let me know and or need / want a kydex sheath for it let I can do that for ya.

There seem to be a lot of questions about these moded knives I also came to this thread to ask similar questions maybe you could do a full review in the knife testing area. Also who did this for you I have a Rc4 and have been considering doing this since I got it. Thanks.

These look fantastic! Please report back on how they do with field usage. Do you think the metal parts removed were fully hardened?
