Hi All,
I ordered the Gelbu Special and BAS blems on Monday afternoon. In todays mail, Wed.AM they are there!! Amazing! I do not know how Uncle Bill manages to get stuff all the way to Maine so fast. You just have to love that kind of customer service.
The Gelbu was all that I expected, the blade is so well done and smoothly profiled and shaped it could be machine made. It is just that well put together. The blade is quick in the hand and all but flutters around when moved. The fullering is deep and even giving the blade tip a light and lightning fast affect. Very nice balance. The tear in the sheath was minimal and is repaired to my satisfaction for now.
The BAS was the one that took me by surprise. It is just the perfect little blade. All my other Khuks are 18" or better, so this is my first smallish one. I fell in love. It is not any heavy duty chopper, but I think that I will be carrying this blade as my day to day Khuk. It is not as magic stone finished as the Gelbu, but it is very well made and the sword of Shiva engraving with its copper inlay is pretty to the eye. Concidering the smallish stature of this blade it slices and dices nicely, and chops like a larger blade. It is a little nose heavier than the Gelbu so it seems to want to chop a little better. I think this will be a great camping and day to day Khuk for some time to come. I even tested it in the kitchen. It will be just splendid. Thank you again Uncle Bill for the FAST and FRIENDLY service and the great bargins. I look forward to our next encounter!
