Hi All

I have been a very busy boy today - had to destroy and old bed to make way for a new improved futon !! The base I broke up with my bare hands (SAVAGE) but the mattress underneath was more difficult so I thought I would put the GS to use. Really did well at eating the bedframe up but there were loads of wood staples in the frame which beat my edge up pretty well.

I will re-sharpen the knife and hopefully get rid of the 4 or 5 dings in the blade !!

Thats what users are for !!

You sure did have a lot of fun.:) But, where are the pics man, the pics?:D

Yup. Little pieces of metal like staples and nails can really do a number on your blade. Luckily HI khuks are pretty easy to fix.

..yesterday I had to cut wood. A cold spell is coming, here now, in fact and it's supposed to get 20 below tonight. I'd been stranded all week with the small kids and couldn't get out when the getting was good. BLM came and burnt the wood piles they'd left in summer during a thinning project. So I sat for a week and watched my winter wood burn.

They'd left some piles, those not surrounded by snow, usually facing south and the Sun. The easy piles had been picked, but up hill in the snow there were more. So I hiked upwards with the 20" villager and began cutting the small limbs off bigger logs. I spent an hour and a half cutting and throwing logs downhill. Most of the wood had to be thrown 3 to 4 times before it reached the fireroad below and Beater Truck.

I was covered in snow and so was Villager. I sprayed the khuk with WD when I got home, and oiled the wood last night.

THere's wood for the cold snap now.

Did you try the chakma first? Sometimes it works wonders.

Failing that, there's always the 10 pound sledge. :D

Brendan, I hope the neighbors didn't see you chopping up your bed, might wonder why you're mad at it, Bwaaa, hee. I'm sure Yvsa will expound on that one.

Munk, I'd love to come out and chop some firewood with you one of these days, but that frozen white stuff you were talking about is pure Kryptonite to a sixth generation Floridian.

My neighbor did and he was very happy cos he said he could see how much fun I was having !!

All I heard from the neighbours to my left was "Honey, come and look at this. Thats when I took the khuk into the back yard !!

Silverfalcon, I spent most my life in or near the Mojave desert. If I can hack it, so can you.

You don't have to worry about being bitten by Eastern Diamondbacks, anyway, when there's white stuff on the ground.

No, but when the white stuff is on the ground one has to contend with the Snow Snakes, the smallest and deadliest snake in the world and they never bite.:(

Well Yvsa, in OK. you must get some practise with snow snakes. It's not a balmy wonderland, after all.

speaking of snow, I think I'll throw another 3 logs on the fire.
