I don't know why I waited so long to get a Gelbu. At first I didn't like the heart-shaped cho, but after I bought a Chitlangi I appreciated it.
The 21" Gelbu is my new favorite "fighter" khukuri. The 18" Chitlangi is a lot faster for snap cuts, but I like the weight behind my Gelbu by Kumar. It's not a lot different than the Movie model by Bura, really.
I have the horn handle coated in Hooflex for now, but I'll get photos later. The edge actually looks like a true convex grind. I really like the dished out fuller and how the blade meets the cho on this one. The fit and finish is excellent.
My fave utility is still the UBE, but the Gelbu is a good hefty weapon. I look forward to getting a Malla and a 21" Chitlangi to compare to the Gelbu.

It's my favourite too !!

I haven't got all those other beaut's though !! I have a chip in my blade just above the cho, which I won't go into too much detail on how it got there but it doesn't bother me as this is just such a great blade - I use it the most as the M43 is really top heavy and just plain meaty and the small handle really bites me ! My BAS is a little too small for my liking as a user and the others I have given away. I'm really looking forward to giving my GS a fake patina which I will do this weekend !!

They're great knives !

GS is my favorite too...

of course i prefer the smaller one. mine is by kumar... and i got mine a few weeks ago. he seems to be putting out some top quality stuff lately. i think i like kumar better than bura because bura isnt really making any more blade with his own hands (i think) and just supervises his knife makers instead.

kumar is a great kami... i love his handles. seem to be a little bit thicker than bura's which makes the blade seem a bit lighter in the hand bcs you get more torc much like holding a skrew driver witha thicker handle.

Just a quick question. How thick are yall's GS's at the widest point of the blade? Both the 18" and 22"?

I have an older 18" one made by Sanu that is indistructibly thick, and heard from Pappy at the Konvention that it weighed more than his 21", and that got me curious if I need to add another 18" GS to the list of Kuks that I NEED but cannot afford. :D
