Gemini: unsafe liner lock?

The Gemini has always appealed to me, but I heard a few accounts of people complaining about its liner lock being (Böker's reputation for lock safety is not exactly stellar anyway).
Now I'd like to know whether Böker has improved their QC department.
Im' also interested in how high (or low) you would rate the Gemini's out of the box sharpness?

Input appreciated.

Well, let me answer the easy question first.
Sharpness,IMO,is very good. The lock,on the other hand is not what it should be in a hard use knife.
But,if that style appeals to you, look into the Helios line, which I'm still trying to get a pic of on here from the girl in IT.The design is the same as the Gemini, materials are different.
Aluminum handles with grip tape inserts,a thicker liner, and a clip that is reversible for tip up or down carry.
QS,see you on the "other forum"
Thanks,Terry

Never had a Problem with my Gemini and I've see thicker locks, but I do not believe the Gemini is any thinner than most of the liner locks out there. Also OOB Sharpness is superb, only better by Spyderco. Liner locks are less safe than lockbacks by nature and if you are that worried about it I'd recommend either an Boker HK P2000 lockback, a Cold Steel Voyager, or most especially anything with a Spyderhole:). Boker's AK-47 knife looks really awesome too if you especially want a liner-lock. Hey TJT. I thought that BOKER's Helios was a limited run damascus model, do they make a standard run version, if so I'd be interested in picking up one myself, esp. if it's available in tip up:) If it does exist, how is it any different from that Phantom Shadow model I've been hearing about :D

The Helios is available in different blade types;X-15,Cera-Titan,and Leo Damascus.
On the X-15 models, handles can be either black or green, and the clip is reversible, tip up,or down, but only for right hand pocket carry.
Out of allof the Boker folders,it's my favorite, with the EFD being a close second.
Thanks,TJT

Thanks for the honest assessment, Terry! Much appreciated. :)
I'll take a look at the Helios models!
