Just musing here since my BR is sitting on top of the WS box.

Recently got the WS, mainly for dull kitchen knives that I have plenty of. Didn't give much thought to the 1/4" thick BR, CT or even the 3/16" HR, just the really thin slicers like the Chinese veg cleaver that sees a lot of duty.

I really suck at sharpening despite the Shapton stones, Blue Aoto brick, graded wet/dry sandpaper and a 12"X12" granite reference plate. Got great gear, but lack the 'touch'.

So, has anyone used the combo of the WSKO with the big Rats? Or, even with the smaller ones?

No big hurry to 'speriment' without informed feedback. I'd rather grind on my one Busse (Skinny Badger Attack), than my Gen1 Rats.

Thanks for any info!

I'll preface by saying: I do not have the worksharp. However, I do have a full metal-working shop with a bunch of different sorts of grinders. I'd be careful of two things with the worksharp…..building heat and dubbing off the tip. If you can keep the blade cool and control your technique/pressure near the tip I think you'd be fine.

Extremely easy to get a rounded tip or micro tanto with WS...
I’d get a good amount of experience using it with kitchen knives before you move to the your Bussekin.
I’m still doing despicable things to kitchen knives...

No worries! I inherited a bunch of cheap kitchen knives along with high quality butcher knives from a family friend that cut meat in a high end Miami Beach restaraunt. Got plenty to practice with before I trust myself with the 'good' stuff.

There is also an attachment for the WS that becomes a mini slack belt grinder that is more freehand than the guides. I'm nowhere close to ordering it, but keeping it in the back of my mind.

I don't do *Bubba*.
