Gen 3 xm18 stop pin question.

I recently acquired my grail, an early gen 3 XM18 3.5' with a spearpoint grind. After carrying it and using it for a few weeks I noticed my blade was chipped on 3 separate locations. As I looked closer I realized that the chipping was exactly lined up with where the standoffs are located, and that there was makers in the standoffs as well showing that the blade had been hitting it whenever I closed it. I then looked at the blade stop and noticed that it was crooked and to the right so it wasn't properly stopping my blade early enough which caused my blade to hit the standoffs when ever closed. I tightened the stop pin which fixed the problem for a day until it loosened up again and my blade started hitting the standoffs. My question is, is this common occurrence? I'm figuring loctite would fix the problem but sometimes when I tighten the blade stop its not completely straight and almost looks crooked, slightly bent to the right. Any ideas on what I should do and if using loctite on the blade stop doesn't void any warranty?

Any input is appreciated!

Best Regards,
Zack

I am sure some others will chime in with more experienced answers but I would say that this issue warrants (no pun intended) it being sent into Rick to fix.
I have two 3rd gens 3.5" and neither do that.

Seems like it's always a good idea to PM Rob. No one would know better than he.

benm11 gives good advice, I'd send Rob Orlando an email or PM and ask if you should send it in. They can evaluate it to determine what the problem is and probably remedy it. To me, it sounds like either someone messed with the stop pin and/or didn't properly tighten it. The stop pin really shouldn't require loctite IMO, I'd use Vibra-Tite VC-3 personally if it was showing a propensity to loosen up, it is important that that it remains tight and properly aligned as you have found out.

Good luck, I am sure you can get it sorted out.

All gen 3 stop pins come with loc tite on them from the shop, (that I've seen). They are a pain to take off sometimes, I made special pliers to grip the stop pin without marring it to take the screw out so I'm very surprised it vibrated loose on its own. Maybe someone took the pin out & put it in backwards, the pin goes on a certain way. The frame has a hole the the pin sits in so maybe the screw was tightened while the pin was not sitting flush in the hole, maybe that's why it was tilted.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Modifiedz, the pin definitely seems like its not fit in any hole on the frame. Ill take it off to see if its backwards. I also will email hinderers CS.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the help!

Haha never mind, I'm not even going to mess with it. I unscrewed it and it wouldn't even budge when I tried to pull it off, but it does rock back and forth if you try hard enough which is what I'm guessing is happening when I close the knife.
