It seems that Buck has made a number of different sheaths thru the years for the Gen5.

I have 4 different types of sheaths (that I can easily locate, as I have more Gen5 knives than sheaths so the other sheaths must be in their knife box and I'm not digging thru all of those, sorry).

The leather ones are pretty nice, and I actually prefer a slip style sheath.

The nylon ones are probably more current, at least I know the newest one was the vertical carry nylon.

My preference is the 2nd nylon one pictured as it rides well on my belt and doesn't dig into your side much while sitting.

I really like the last leather slip sheath but it's just uncomfortable to wear. And I really don't want to mess it up, so.....

Anyways.
I carry a Gen5 often as I think it's a great little fixed blade.

I said I would post a picture of them so there it is.
😁

If you have a different Gen5 sheath please share.

Thanks.

The very first issued Gen-5 Skinner designed by Josh Buck.
Josh Buck is 5th generation (CJ's son) and the knife was a design project.
Introduced in 2007 with a Snakewood handle and mirror polished 154CM blade.

Yes, very nice.
Snakewood, that's just wood with that type of grain?..... Or.....?

I do think I have a similar style sheath. Not as nice.
Now I gotta go look.
🤔

Snakewood grows in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America,

"In addition to its colorful figure, snakewood is also among the densest and hardest of all wood species worldwide. Among woodworkers, it vies with lignum vitae as the heaviest commercial wood in the world."
