This is the first knife I've got from Gene, and I'm very impressed with the fit and finish. I've long heard about his work, but holding one really males you appreciate it to the fullest.

I had this one made at .145 with weight taken out of the tang. I also asked Gene if he could make the handles a specific thickness, with the handle getting slightly thicker from front to back. I also asked if he could put some radius in the handle from top to bottom. The OAL is 7 1/2".
Gene said to give him the measurements I wanted on the handle thickness, and he would be glad to do it the way I wanted. This knife fits my large hand better than any knife of this size that I've ever had.

I really appreciate Gene working with me on this, and its also a real pleasure talking with Gene!

I'm not to good with pics, but still wanted to post a few. Thanks.

My first custom knife was from Gene and he inspired me to get into making them. Although my current knives often vary considerably from what he makes, I always love to see his blades.

Very nice, Gene's knives are always well done.
The pics turned out fine.

Outstanding!

Gene does such cleeean work... :)

Any chance for a tang shot from above to better see the customized handle swell?

It's not really much of a swell. There just slightly thicker from front to back, with a little radius from top to bottom.

Gene does his knives at .47/.48" all the way down the handle without any radius. I asked Gene if he could start this one at .48, and slightly widen it to .55" by the back pin, then back down to .52 just after the back pin.
The back is not rounded, so it appears thicker than at back pin, but is not.
I just put the mic to it, and it's measure's at what I asked for at all three places.

I took a pic, but you can't really tell much from it. You can feel it, and see it with the naked eye though.
