This is the first knife I've got from Gene, and I'm very impressed with the fit and finish. I've long heard about his work, but holding one really males you appreciate it to the fullest.

I had this one made at .145" with weight taken out of the tang. I also asked Gene if he could make the handles a specific thickness, with the handle getting slightly thicker from front to back. I also asked if he could put some radius in the handle from top to bottom. The OAL is 7 1/2".
Gene said to give him the measurements I wanted on the handle thickness, and he would be glad to do it the way I wanted. This knife fits my large hand better than any knife of this size that I've ever had.

I really appreciate Gene working with me on this, and its also a real pleasure talking with Gene!

I'm not to good with pics, but still wanted to post a few. Thanks.

That knife looks like it will cut, cut, and cut. Congrats on your score. Gene is IMO a well-kept secret for offering very high quality knives at very reasonable prices. I have a wharnie of his that is the "cat's meow".

That's really nice. What steel did you choose?

Thanks, and the steel is D2 at 60Rc.

Thanks Chris, I just got it and haven't cut anything yet. It is wicked sharp, and by looking at the blade geometry I can tell it will be a slicing deamon. It has a good bit of distal taper to the blade, which I love:thumbup:

I agree about the high quality for the price. The knife is as perfect as any I've ever seen, and I see alot at Blade each year.

That knife's making me sweat.:o

You've got a winner on your hands there. Now ... go cut something!:D

ken, that's a piece of art. those lines are incredibly clean and smooth. nice score!
