Just saw a post from his wife on facebook that Gene has passed away.I dont know how many knew him across the country,but he was a top knifemaker from Ft.Worth.I remember seeing him at gun shows with his knives since back in the 70's.He was always willing to share what he knew and help whoever he could.I believe had been battling cancer.
 
I was just on his site Center Cross looking at video to show Santa



He has a forum with only a few posts & it had a message from him maybe a month or two ago

Brain and Lung cancer.

It's another sad reminder to wear a respirator and do some dust control.

Was he a smoker?
 
I dont believe he smoked that i remember.It sounds like it took him pretty fast.I was talking to him via email about buying some damascus just a few months ago.He may have been sick,but i didnt know.RIP Gene.
 
Man, that is bad news. Gene did smoke, or at least he did at the Blade Show. I have spent a fair amount of time with him (outside smoking at Blade) over the last few years.

He was a super nice guy. I sure hate to hear this, but I know he is in a better place now.

Gene was a "Believer". Even though we will not have him around here, it is very comforting to know that he is with Jesus now.
 
Very sorry to hear this. I have talked to him at shows before and found that he was a nice person and was willing to help anyone.
 
Gene was a very outgoing and fun person to be around.He never met a stranger.He will be missed by many.Rest in Peace my friend.
