I just saw a knife somewhere from a guy named Gene Osborn called an Extended tang lockback? I was just wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this maker, or if they can explain a little more about the "extended tang" in his lockback? Thanks!

Sincerely,
Anthony

Anthony, go to his website for pics and description. I have one and it works very well. And Gene is a really good guy.

Gene Osborn ?

Great guy, great knife, great value.

I got one damascus from him a couple of months back, and it was SWEET !

His damascus is top notch. Great cutting tool and great art piece.

I would recommend you getting one of his pieces.

Ditto - I've had 2 damascus fixed blades by Gene, both beauties. I'd have thought a damsacus and oosic knife would be a wall-hanger, but this one just wants to help out around the kitchen:)

Gene is an all around good guy. His knives are first rate, the fit and finish is excellent, his knowledge of and skill with materials is going to be hard to match.

I have two of his fixed blades and I'm sure I'll have more sometime. I keep looking at those lockbacks too....

I have 2 of Gene's folders. a scale release and a lockback. Both are excellent knives. The lockback snaps to lock with more solid authority than any other knife I own. Fit and finish on both is excellent and his CenterCross knives are a great value.
No complaints from me- Gene is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

The only thing I can add to to agree with what has been posted. Great guy, knife and value.

I'll jump on board as well. I have a scale release and it is very well-built and authoritative, as JW mentioned. One of my faves, and it was a bargain.

Gene gives you back 100% of himself in his knives. That's all you could ever want. Give him a shout--he loves people.

Nice guy and does great work. He was at the SOS show in Mesquite Texas. Very personable and had the biggest forearms I've seen. HUGE!

Gene took time to show my Cub Scouts the details of knifemaking and helped them with their kit knives. Great guy.

Also, the fit and finish as well as design quality of Gene's knives have (and this should be no surprise) improved over the years to the point where he makes some of the best custom folders in the 265-400$ range. Some of his forged work runs on up there. I would recommend him to you highly.
